Transparent large pages for System z libhugetlbfs support for System z

Presentation abstract
The Translation Lookaside Buffer (TLB) translates virtual memory addresses to physical memory addresses. If large pages are used, a given number of entries cover more memory (for the price of granularity) and thereby prevent TLB misses. Previously, applications had to explicitly support large pages. To make any application for Linux on z Systems benefit from using large pages, the transparent use of large pages was introduced. We compared the usage of transparent large pages to the usage of libhugetlbfs/explicit large pages.
