Preserving redundant VIOS configuration on production site with IBM Geographically Dispersed Resiliency solution
IBM Geographically Dispersed Resiliency for Power Systems is an innovative disaster recovery (DR) solution to recover virtual machines (VMs). In enterprise customer environments, multipathing I/O with dual Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) configuration is widely employed for redundancy. This article suggests a procedure to perform disaster recovery to move the VMs that have dual VIOS setup on host at production or active site to a backup site with a single VIOS setup in the backup hosts. The article also explains the procedure to preserve the original dual VIOS configuration after the VMs move back to the previous site again.

AHAFS events support for adding and removing USB devices in IBM AIX
Hot plugging a device in a system means the device is discovered and configured by the system without reboot or without manual intervention. Using Trusted Boot on IBM OpenPOWER servers
IBM OpenPOWER servers provide a firmware level security feature known as Trusted Boot. Trusted Boot helps defend against a boot code cyberattack by helping to verify that your server is running only authorized firmware. Integrity of your firmware is vital to the security of your system. Trusted Boot works by taking measurements of the executable boot code as the server boots and recording these measurements to a dedicated hardware security module known as the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). Together with a process known as remote attestation, you can use the data in the TPM to verify the integrity of your server's boot code.

This article explains how to safeguard the KSYS node (controller system node) that manages the Geographically Dispersed Resiliency environment. IBM Geographically Dispersed Resiliency for Power Systems is a disaster recovery solution that is easy to deploy and provides an automated process to recover the production site virtual machines. KSYS node is a logical partition with the IBM AIX operating system and the Geographically Dispersed Resiliency solution installed on it. This KSYS node can monitor the configured environment and handle the respective virtual machine under that environment during disaster recovery.

With this multiple I/O queue support, there is a significant improvement in the number of IOPS for I/O requests of smaller block sizes.
