Darrel RaderDarrel Rader is the Chair of the DevOps Community. Darrel brings a wealth of experience related to enterprise agility, enablement and community nurturing and development. Darrel currently serves as Senior Manager, WW Capability and Community Development at IBM Rational. He is a leader for technical skills development within IBM Rational and has been focused on improving capabilities of both customers and the Rational technical community for the last 20 years. Lately, he has been working to change the traditional paradigm for learning by finding ways to leverage Communities of Practice as the foundation for establishing an agile/collaborative learning environment -- one that accelerates the building of technical expertise within Rational and for our customers.

Scott Ambler is the founder and practice leader of the Agile Modeling (AM) (, Agile Data (AD) (, Disciplined Agile Delivery (DAD) ( and Enterprise Unified Process (EUP) ( methodologies. He is also the (co-)author of several books, including Refactoring Databases, Agile Modeling, Agile Database Techniques, The Object Primer 3rd Edition, The Enterprise Unified Process, and The Elements of UML 2.0 Style. Scott is a contributing editor with Dr Dobb's Journal ( and a full list of his books is presented at He is also a founding member of the Disciplined Agile Consortium (DAC) at .


Michael Azoff has been working as an IT industry analyst since 2003, bringing over 20 years of experience in pure and applied research and consulting in the IT industry. At Ovum he leads the software development and lifecycle management (SDLM) research and his current focus is on Agile practices in software development, from enterprise Agile transformation initiatives to DevOps, as well as cloud related SDLM, rich Internet applications, and enterprise IT mobile development. Michael is the lead author on major Ovum analyst reports covering the SDLM space. He runs Ovum Master Classes and Enterprise Workshops on Agile related topics, both external and also in-house at client organizations. Michael started out in academic research, gaining a PhD from Sheffield University, UK, on modelling novel semiconductor devices, and subsequently contributing to the UK government’s IT initiatives with research work at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. This was followed by a variety of roles in R&D and the IT industry.


Jennifer Fawcett has been providing scaled agile product management, product ownership, executive portfolio coaching and leadership, and software expertise to technology companies for over 28 years before joining Scaled Agile in late 2012. Jennifer spent several years in Product Management at Rational Software (now IBM-Rational), primarily in their intellectual property unit, developing the product marketing to help to bring their thought leadership and software process education courses to market. Jennifer has also spent a large portion of her career as a professional consultant, providing senior level agile product management, product marketing, corporate messaging architecture, process expertise, and hands-on web development to a variety of emerging markets. Today, Jennifer serves as Vice President, Scaled Agile Academy, is currently training and coaching Fortune 500 companies worldwide on implementing the Scaled Agile Framework.


Rainer Grau is active in IT since 1989. He started as software engineer developing automotive systems already using Barry Boehms Spiral model as the first agile approach. He was active in many roles such as  requirements engineer, project manager, process consultant, instructor, coach, mentor, evangelist and ongoing as supporter of the over the years growing agile community. As Distinguished Consultant and member of the Executive Management at Zühlke he is responsible to drive the subject matter areas around agile and lean. Rainer is a pragmatic evangelist for Agility, Lean Management, Requirements Engineering and Product Management. He is active as coach, trainer and supporter of the community. He is member of the board of directors of the International Requirements Engineering Board (, board member of the International Software Product Management Association ( and founder of the Swiss Agile Leaders Circle So Rainer is happy to have the chance to combine passion and profession, working with clients, foster ideas and work with communities to continuously improve. Rainer spends the remainder of his time with his family, on racing or mountain bikes, wind surfing, rock climbing or reading the latest novels by T.C. Boyle and Haruki Murakami


Gary Hathaway is a principal consultant at Black Diamond Software and has been helping companies adopt lean and agile practices for over three decades in multiple industries and technologies.  From startups to large enterprises, Gary has helped align business and IT to produce better software development and operation outcomes exercising the latest insights into this ever changing world of software delivery.  Leading the enterprise culture change required when adopting and scaling innovative techniques and tooling, has been a constant challenge for many.  Gary brings decades of experience working with IBM customers to effectively implement the best of tools and methods provided for today’s consumers. Coaching and mentoring teams and individuals in enterprises to more effectively adopt better ways of working while customizing it to their organizations is where Gary’s passion lies.


Carson Holmes is a management consultant, methodologist, software engineer, and educator. He is the EVP of Service Delivery at Software Development Experts, and President of the Global Rational User Community. Mr. Holmes started programming over 30 years ago and for the last 16 years has helped numerous Fortune 500 IT enterprises across a variety of industries achieve their strategic goals. He is a specialist in IT governance and process improvement and leverages pragmatic methods, practices, and tools that benefit the enterprise IT value stream. 



Julian Holmes, an IBM Champion for Agile, has a proven track record in enhancing the software development capability of large and complex IT organisations. These skills stem from the experience of performing many different software development roles over his 20 years working within the industry, providing him recognition as a proven software development leader. Julian adopted the Rational Unified Process as his approach of choice in 1999, becoming quickly regarded as a leader as to its successful use, and in its deployment for project teams and organisations alike. More recently Julian's work has been focused on helping his clients achieve greater "agility" through the use of Scrum, XP, and Disciplined Agile Delivery. This agile transformation has been demonstrated most recently by Julian's work with systems integrator, government, automotive and financial services clients in the transformation of their organisations into reference sites for large-scale and distributed agile delivery projects.


Gervais (Jay) Johnson is a Senior Managing Consultant within the GBS FSS Insurance Strategy & Transformation Practice at IBM.  He has 29 years of experience for a broad variety of clients across multiple industries with concentration in the software and insurance industries.  He has significant experience with Fortune 100 Insurance P&C and Life companies and has provided significant expertise and depth of knowledge in multiple aspects of insurance operations and solution delivery.  Before joining IBM, Jay led software development projects in technical leadership roles within insurance companies and software companies.   For IBM, Jay provides Program/Project and Agile Delivery leadership including deep experience in managing the delivery of core and front office insurance solutions.  Jay works with IBM client senior business and IT executives to implement Disciplined Agile Adoption strategies and tactical transformation solutions to meet their business and innovation demands.  Jay has been with IBM for 16 years and has a BS in Information Science from San Diego State University and attended Stanford Sloan School of Management.  He has the following designations:  FLMI, PMP, ACP, and Six Sigma Green Belt.


Mark Lines is Managing Partner at Scott W. Ambler + Associates. He is an IT Process Consultant and Agile Coach. With Scott, he is co-author of Disciplined Agile Delivery: A Practitioner's Guide to Agile Software Delivery in the Enterprise. He is a “disciplined” agile coach, helping organizations all over the world transform from traditional to agile methods. He also helps customize agile governance practices to accelerate complex projects in large enterprises. He writes for many publications and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences. Iain McKenna is an experienced trainer, coach and practitioner who has successfully used Scrum over a number of years both in project recovery and greenfield projects.  Iain has also been extremely successful in helping many organisations adopt or improve their use of Scrum including United Health, BBC, Cisco and BSkyB. Having worked with IT for over 30 years, Iain has a wealth of experience ranging from operations, analysis, testing, software engineering, project and programme mamagement through to IT Leadership.  Iain has also been a customer and user of many software products over the years. This breadth of experience helps Iain to work with teams to build high quality products that meet the needs of all stakeholders.


Dipesh Pala is an Agile Capability Lead at IBM, pursuing his passion for helping organizations of all sizes to incrementally adopt the benefits of Agile practices. He has a long history in software delivery having worked within a variety of industries as a Programmer, Business Systems Analyst, Iteration Manager and a Project Manager. Over the last decade, Dipesh has helped many project teams as an on-the-ground Agile Consultant and Mentor. He has been instrumental in rolling out Agile methods in many organizations and is currently coaching and mentoring aspiring Iteration Managers, Agile Project Managers and Team Leaders to become the Agile practitioners their teams need. In addition to being a frequent presenter at industry conferences and seminars, Dipesh is also a seasoned facilitator who is able to drive out the best outcomes from any project-based or strategy workshops. A keen advocate of simplicity, Dipesh offers simple, practical yet powerful ways to address the challenges team members and managers in Agile environments face today. Fariz Saracevic is a member of IBM Rational Product Management and Design team, responsible for IBM Rational solution for Agile ALM ( and JazzHub ( scenario design. He is working closely with other IBM Rational leads to define and advance Agile and JazzHub capabilities. Prior to taking scenario design role, Fariz was leading IBM Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) and he was part of Automated Software Quality Product Management team responsible for automated functional solutions. Fariz co-authored "Software Test Engineering with IBM Rational Functional Tester: The Definitive Resource" book and he is writer and co-writer of several articles. He has worked for IBM Rational since 2004. He is a speaker at a wide variety of world-wide conferences on the topic of Agile ALM. Erik Schumann, CTO at Sellegi Technologies is a senior agile and lean strategist. Since 15+ years Erik has worked to adopt and spread agile philosophy, values, and benefits to the best effect at various international enterprises. His engagement spans all levels of the organizations. Erik has worked as a coach for key-people as well as teams and run global process improvements and operational efficiency programs from both a strategic and operational perspective. He was formerly responsible for the global R&D, project governance and product lifecycle processes at Ericsson and introduced agile development within those. Erik has a track record introducing customer optimized solutions and agile improvements in international multisite projects. He has worked with market leaders in the field of telecom, automotive, road machinery and transportation. Since 2010 Erik is a partner in Sellegi Technologies, a highly specialized company that provides solutions for large-scale system and agile development support. Erik is certified as a Scaled Agile Program Consultant (SPC) for SAFe.


Jaco Viljoen is principal consultant at IndigoCube, South Africa. He focus on enterprise agility, enabling software development teams and their leadership to become better at this. He is a certified as a ScrumMaster, Product Owner, SAFe Practitioner (SPC) and holds a master’s degree in computer science. He is also completing a master’s degree in leadership and has spoken locally and internationally on the topic of leading an agile team.




Scott Will has been with IBM for nearly 23 years and has spent the last several years as an Agile consultant, helping teams across the world successfully make the transition.  He is currently the IBM Software Group Worldwide DevOps Enablement Lead.  Prior to assuming his Agile and DevOps responsibilities, Scott filled numerous roles in development, test, customer support, and management. Additionally, he is co-author of the recently released book entitled, "Being Agile." He is an IBM "Master Inventor" with multiple patents, a former Air Force pilot, and a graduate of Purdue University with a triple-major in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Numerical Analysis. He also picked up an MBA while in the Air Force. He lives in North Carolina with his wife, children, and grandchildren, enjoys teaching, hunting, and participating in high-performance driving events, as well as reading a good book by a warm fire on a snowy evening.


Ming Zhi Xie joined IBM in 2004 and started the China Development Lab's Agile Testing Community in 2007. He has been a leader of the corporate-wide IBM Agile Community since 2007 and has been coaching agile teams since 2009. Ming Zhi contributed to the book A Practical Guide to Distributed Scrum and has assisted with the accurate translation of key Agile resources, including Mike Cohn's presentations on User Stories, into Chinese so that they could be more easily embraced globally. At the same time, Ming Zhi has been a Development & Level 3 Support manager in Rational. Ming Zhi coaches IBM external and internal customers in global agile transformation support, and shares his rich experience as a Development and Level 3 Support Manager.
