What's new in IBM Connections?

These features are new or enhanced for this version of IBM® Connections.

  • A new Mail option is displayed in the navigation bar. Click Mail to access your email inbox, and perform some basic mail actions.
  • A new Calendar option is displayed in the navigation bar. Click Calendar to access your IBM Lotus Notes® or Microsoft Exchange calendar.
    Note: To interact with a community calendar, open the Communities application.
  • You can post status updates from anywhere in IBM Connections. Log in and then click the Share link.
  • The Metrics feature has changed in this release. Connections administrators and designated users can work with interactive displays of global metrics by clicking Server Metrics in the footer. Community owners can view non-interactive reports for their communities by clicking Metrics in the header or in the navigation pane.
  • There are new topics addressing general tasks, such as uploading files.
  • The rich text editor, used in different applications such as Blogs and Wikis, has been upgraded to CKEditor 3.6.2 in this release. There are a number of new features (Opens in a new tab or window) in the Wikis editor.
  • You can see what other users are doing in your update stream from Profiles.
  • For new or enhanced features in the individual applications, see the what's new topic links on this page.
  • When viewing your search results, you can filter the results from Profiles to exclude inactive profiles by selecting Exclude Inactive People from the Show menu on the Profiles Search Results page.
  • The social analytic widgets now recommend private as well as public content, based on your existing relationships with public and private content in IBM Connections.
  • The Trending widget displays a list of the hot topics that are trending in your organization. The widget displays when you filter your search results using the Status Updates option.
  • Status updates and microblogging content are now included in the analysis of the relationships that are used to recommend content and people in the social analytics widgets.
