YEAR returns the year as a number according to the internal
calculation rules.

## Syntax

YEAR(`number`)

`number` shows
the internal date value for which the year is to be returned.

## Example

`=YEAR(1)` returns `1899` as
1 corresponds to 12/31/1899.

`=YEAR(367)` returns `1901` as
367 corresponds to 1/1/1901.

Note: The goal is for IBM Docs to
be as accurate and as compatible with Microsoft Excel as possible.
Therefore, starting from 1/1/1900, or the numeric value greater than
1, there is no difference between the two applications.
