Creating comments in spreadsheets

When you edit or review a spreadsheet, you can create one comment for a single cell that helps you to collaborate with other editors. All comments of the spreadsheet are displayed on the Comments sidebar.

In spreadsheets, you can create comments only for cells, and only one comment per cell.
  1. Click any cell for which you want to create a comment.
  2. Click Team > Add Comment or click Add Comment insert comment on the toolbar. The Comments panel is displayed.
  3. Type your comment in the field, and press Enter or click Add. The comment is inserted into the spreadsheet and is displayed on the panel with your name, date, and time. It is ready for you to start a conversation with others.

  4. Optional: If you want to direct the comment at any editor, enter the symbol @, a list of editors of the document is displayed. Select the editor that you want from the list, and then enter your comment.
  5. Optional: You can create only one comment for one cell. Click Team > Add Comment again if you want to create another comment for another cell. The comments are all displayed as parallel folders on the sidebar.
  6. To respond to any comment, click the double arrow icon expand comment arrow to expand the comment, and then click Respond to enter your response in the field. Press Enter when you finish typing. The response is added to the comment with a different icon.
  7. Optional: You can direct the response at any editor, When you type the response content, enter the symbol @, a list of editors of the document is displayed. Select the editor that you want from the list, and then enter your response.
  8. If you want to remove any comment, click the trash icon remove comment icon. The comment together with all responses is deleted.
  9. After you finish the comments and responses of the spreadsheet, click View > Sidebar to hide the Comments panel.
