Pinned topic IBM i upload to SQL server performance

‏2014-07-14T16:30:32Z |

When using a linked server in SQL Server to upload an IBM i database file what provider usually has the best performance - my own tests show that Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC drivers performs better than IBM DB2 for i IBMDASQL OLE DB provider; IBM DB2 for i IBMDA400 OLE DB provider and IBM DB2 for i IBMDARLA OLE DB provider.

It's been a while since I've implemented a new instance of this, but in the past, I've always had best performance and the fewest problems using the ODBC provider.  Do not use IBMDARLA for a linked server and I wouldn't bother with IBMDA400.
