Pinned topic nmon2web: Annoying Informational message and a wish

‏2013-11-22T09:52:24Z |

First of all, thanks Nigel for the hint about newest nmon2web at Enterprise 2013 in Orlando.

since a week I have upgraded to newest version "2.0.6 October 1, 2013" and it works like a charm, wonderful work Bruce!

But since then I have annoying message like this:

Informational message: sub vgraph_rrd_defs has excluded chart ../rrddata/top_kbiod.rrd because it contains no data in the rrd file.
end time: last data point ends after the last date in rrdtool = 1385106033 / 1385110535
Informational message: sub vgraph_rrd_defs has excluded chart ../rrddata/top_lrud.rrd because it contains no data in the rrd file.
end time: last data point ends after the last date in rrdtool = 1385106033 / 1385110535
Informational message: sub vgraph_rrd_defs has excluded chart ../rrddata/top_nfssync_kproc.rrd because it contains no data in the rrd file.
end time: last data point ends after the last date in rrdtool = 1385106033 / 1385110535
Informational message: sub vgraph_rrd_defs has excluded chart ../rrddata/top_oracle.rrd because it contains no data in the rrd file.
end time: last data point ends after the last date in rrdtool = 1385110235 / 1385110535
Informational message: sub vgraph_rrd_defs has excluded chart ../rrddata/top_rtcmd.rrd because it contains no data in the rrd file.
end time: last data point ends after the last date in rrdtool = 1385106033 / 1385110535
Informational message: sub vgraph_rrd_defs has excluded chart ../rrddata/top_secldapclntd.rrd because it contains no data in the rrd file.
end time: last data point ends after the last date in rrdtool = 1385109635 / 1385110535
Informational message: sub vgraph_rrd_defs has excluded chart ../rrddata/top_sisidsdaemon.rrd because it contains no data in the rrd file.
end time: last data point ends after the last date in rrdtool = 1385096729 / 1385110535
Informational message: sub vgraph_rrd_defs has excluded chart ../rrddata/top_splunkd.rrd because it contains no data in the rrd file.
end time: last data point ends after the last date in rrdtool = 1385110235 / 1385110535
Informational message: sub vgraph_rrd_defs has excluded chart ../rrddata/top_syncd.rrd because it contains no data in the rrd file.
end time: last data point ends after the last date in rrdtool = 1385109935 / 1385110535

What is the reason for that? How can I avoid them?

And I have a wish:

Is there anyway to avoid serial number for "Host performance chart" so that the graphic always shown up as complete does not matter how many times you do LPM operation? Otherwise I have look for my performance graphics in 2 different places and has a hole after LPM operation.

regards

Abduxukur

If you don't want to see the informational messages,  comment them out of the nmon2web.pl script.  Search on "Informational Message" and put a # sign in front to comment out.

The informational messages are in there to indicate possible problems.   In this case, one of the errors is saying that the data is out of sequence (a no-no with rrdtool).  Sometimes this is normal (overlapping samples).  On the other hand, if the nmon files are being processed out of sequence, rrdtool will discard the data.

Regarding LPM,  I made a design decision to store the performance data by serial number.  The objective was to monitor the entire frame.    As a work around, you might use the new nmon2web_consolidator.html tool.  You can select the select the LPM partition on the various frames.
