Guys

I want to use V7K to migrate data from an old storage DS4700 to a newly bought XIV.

Can anybody precisely list down steps needed ? or kindly provide any link to step by step procedure...

Thanks

Are both systems virtualized behind the Storwize?

The procedure depends alot about that.

If both systems are virtualized by the Storwize, its a walk in the park with no downtime involved. (Simply click on a volume, and migrate to new storage pool, then choose a pool on the XIV. Repeat for all volumes you want to move.

If the XIV is virtualized behind the V7k, but the DS4700 is not, the procedure is relative simple, using the GUI Migration Wizard in the V7k. It requires some downtime, mainly for installing the new multipath driver on the hosts.

If the XIV is not virtualized, you need do some stuff on the CLI to get the volume onto the XIV in image mode. It requires some downtime, mainly for installing the new multipath driver on the hosts.

    Whats your exact scenario?
