Pinned topic DB2 z/OS V11 compatibility with VAGen

‏2014-04-10T09:21:32Z |

Hello,

One VAGen  4.5 FP5 customer  is upgrading its  DB2 z/OS from V9  to  V11.

So far customer  is using DB2 Connect  V7 to access DB2 z/OS V9.

Customer also  will upgrade DB2 Connect V7 to V9. Is there any workable  experience for sharing ?  Thanks !

    Hey,

I can't say for sure, as it has not been tested.

Suspect it should not be a problem to connect to DB2 V11 from VAGen... as long as the DB2 connect code on the client is compatible with both VAGen and DB2 on z/OS.    Since you know DB2 Connect V7 works, have you looked to see if you can continue to use this as the client but change to the DB2 on z/OS V11 server.

I am pretty sure I have connected from vAGen to DB2 on z/OS (v8) but using my the DB2 Connect V9 I have installed.   So, believe it will work.

Usually, DB2 Connect and DB2 on z/OS are pretty forgiving/compatible with older code.
