Pinned topic Logging Request and Response

‏2013-08-07T08:27:23Z |

Hi,

We are starting work on a DataPower project and our requirement is that we want to log the request and the response (not on the datapower box,but on our desktop) and do the normal logging as well.

Please suggest how to acheive this.

Thanks and Regards,

Charu

You'll need a server process of some sort on your desktop (http server, (s)ftp, syslog) that DataPower can talk to, and then create a logging action (see recent posts by Hermann) to send specific events to your server process.

    Hi,

In datapower, one of the way to achieve logging either locally or remotely using an object called  "Log Targets" . As ken said you need servers in order to log your data. Please go through the below mentioned link, there they used syslog in order to achieve logging.

    Hi,

Let me rephrase my question. We want to log the request, response and the output of each action in the policy.

Is it possible to do this? I don't want to use XML Caputre and Probe.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Charu

Every action?  Is this for debug purposes, as I don't think you'd want to do this for production as I'd be concerned about the amount of memory your service is going to consume.  Normally data that is required for auditing purposes is placed into context variables and at the end of response processing a stylesheet is execute to aggregate all of them into one document which is PIPEd to a log action.  If you really want an individual log record for every action, I suppose you could do a log action after every action, but not something I'd suggest for production.

      Regards,

      Steve
