Pinned topic SA Reports in SAXT

‏2014-03-18T13:13:11Z | reports sa saxt

Hello,

is it possible to view reports prepared in SA (Reports -> Report generator  - Reports in HTML) throught SAXT. I don't find any documentation on this topic.

We are using SA version 11.4.2.2.

Thank you Domen

    Hello Domen,

    I could not find a way to do this in SAXT.

    I found the following information in our SA 11.4 infocenter.

    http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/rsysarch/v11/topic/com.ibm.sa.xt.help.doc/topics/t_create_my_own_query.html

    In SA, I created a report where I could see output in the report.

    I then tried to copy and paste the select statements and other code lines from the SA report file into the SAXT "create you own query"

    but I always saw an error in SAXT when trying to execute the query.

    Thanks,

    Frank O'Keefe

    Hello,

    thank you for these instructions. When I try to execute simple query I am getting "Your search returned no results." With SAXT I am connected to the same repository like SA, where I am getting results.

    The sample of my query:

    SELECT "Name"
    WHERE "Identity" = SWGDDID
    WHERE Class = Definition
    WHERE "Type Number" = 1311

    Our SA version is 11.4.2.2. and it is insalled on Windows7 SP1.

    Any idea?

    Best regards Domen

    Hello Domen,

    There was a link to the technote from the URL I had sent prior.  Here it is below.

    http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21324962

    Here in SAXT I tried the following using the Keywords  Explicit OFF and TABULAR as well.  This seemed to give me output in SAXT query.

    For your query, my encyclopedia is small and did not contain this information.

    Explicit OFF
    TABULAR 1
    {
    SELECT "Audit"
    SELECT "Name"
    SELECT "Description <-- Description"
    WHERE Class = Diagram
    }

    So hopefully the above syntax and curly braces will help.

    Thanks.

    Hello Frank,

    Thank you. The query is now working. My query definition is below.

    Now I have one more question. In SAXT you cannot store these queries. I tried to use links where I would prepare URL to the searchresults program (this program show results for queries). But program searchresults.aspx does not allow posting parameters over the URI.

    I tried:

    Do you have any other solution how to store queries that users will trigger them over the SAXT.

    Thanks Domen

    Here is my working query (Query is from TOGAF 9.0 framework):

    FIELD "Description <-- Description" { SOURCE PROPERTY "Description" LENGTH 4074 TYPE MEMO LEGEND "Description" }
    FIELD "Is Physical <-- Is Physical" { SOURCE PROPERTY "Is Physical" LENGTH 1 TYPE BOOLEAN LEGEND "Is Physical" }
    TABULAR 1
    {
    SELECT "Name" LEGENDFONT Font12, "Description <-- Description" LEGENDFONT Font12
    WHERE Class = Definition
    WHERE "Type Number" = 1311
    WHERE "Is Physical <-- Is Physical" = T
    ORDERBY "Name"
    }

    Hello Domen,

    I have been trying to find a way in SAXT to save the query report but not finding any documented steps for you to follow.

    I brought this issue up in our tech session but was told we do not have documented steps for doing this.

    I was told "Professional Services" would need to be engaged to do this customization.

    The following URL is to "Customizing SAXT" but you may need to test and make any backups to template files before you modify any files in case you need to restore the files to their original settings.

    http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/rsysarch/v11/nav/33_12_0_6

    So unfortunately, I do not have any steps to save the SAXT query as a report file.

    Hope this may help somewhat.

    Thanks,

    Frank O'Keefe
