Pinned topic Linux: mvfs recompile on OS update

‏2013-09-24T08:55:52Z |

Hi,

not been that involved in CC on linux for a while and wondered if the mvfs still needed recompiling when the OS was updated. Or whether there was now a way around that. It is easy enough to do but I guess is a "gotcha".

Regards,

John

Yes, as with all kernel modules MVFS should be recompiled when the kernel is changed. There are several precompiled kernel modules shipped with ClearCase but in many cases your kernel will not be a match in which case you need to recompile. It is quite easy to script if you have the proper environment (gcc, make, kernel-devel package installed etc). As root:

    cd /var/adm/rational/clearcase/mvfs/mvfs_src

    make clean

    make (continue if no errors)

    make install

    restart clearcase
