Pinned topic disk heartbeat

‏2016-03-17T07:17:05Z |

Hello.

From V4.1.0.1 manual,  following comment was removed from "Enabling disk heartbeat" section.

"Disk heartbeating is currently supported on AIX and Linux only"

Is this means the disk heartbeat function also supported on  Linux on z Systems ECKD environment?

If  it still not be able to use in z Systems environment , What's the matter?

Thanks

    Hello,

the sentence  "Disk heartbeating is currently supported on AIX and Linux only"  is no longer needed with SA MP v4.1, since those are the only supported operating systems of this SA MP release. Therefore this sentence was removed.

    Regarding support for ECKD disks/dasd:

The testing has been done using SCSI disks on AIX and Linux on xSeries so far, but not with ECKD disks, which seem to behave differently. We will need to adjust our documentation that ECKD disks/dasd are currently not supported for disk heartbeat, until we have tested and verified it.

    Hi,

I have tried Disk Heartbeat in my test zLinux under z/VM environment.

There is no problem in setup but verification test was failed. It seems that the heartbeat writing was not able to confirm from the other node.

Let me know, if you have any related information.
