Pinned topic iMac host name invalid when run db2_install

‏2014-08-22T01:21:06Z |

I've downloaded IBM DB2 Express-C from the IBM website, and it got installed on my iMac OS X 10.7.5 under /downloads/expc/db2/macos/install/localle, and I'm guessing that I need to execute the db2_install module, but got 'The host name 'xxxx-imac' is invalid Specify a valid host name'. But the 'xxxx' is the valid host. It also makes reference to a log file, which doesn't exist:

A major error occurred while installing "DB2 Express-C " on this computer. The
installation cannot continue. If the problem persists contact your technical
service representative.
For more information see the DB2 installation log at

I also tried to install the DB2setup module, and get the following error:

tmp/db2_schab88.tmp.86627/db2/macos/install/../java/jre/bin/java: No such file or directory
DBI1160I  Non-root install is being performed.
You are using a Java(TM) Runtime Environment that has not been officially tested for use with DB2.  This command will continue to execute, however if you experience problems, refer to the DB2 installation documentation for a list of supported environments.

What is wrong with the installation I did? I'm historically a Windows person, and new to iMac OS X, and I need to know if I need to do any additional steps to get this fully installed and functional. Any help is most appreciated.
