Pinned topic IBM Blade HS22 and HS23 bare metal deployment with MS SCVMM 2012 SP1

‏2013-09-19T11:15:47Z |

Hello,

We have Microsoft SCVMM2012 SP1 installed and configured to manage Hyper-V cluster. Hardware to run Windows 2012 Hyper-V hosts is HS22 and HS23 blades. We'd like to use bare metal deployment of new Hyper-V nodes to clusters with SCVMM. To be able to use that functionality, SCVMM needs to know service processor IP address and login credentials. Service processors on IBM blades are not accessible directly from outside BladeCenter. Is it possible at all to deploy new Hyper-V hosts with SCVMM and if yes, how should the SCVMM and BladeCenter be configured for out-of-band management of HS22 and HS23 blades?

Thanks in advance!

Priit

I have  tried now installing IBM management packs for SCOM and PRO pack for SCVMM and discover bladecenter. During installation it asked for license or run it in evaluation mode for 90 days. I chose the evaluation mode and finished installation. But all my blades, there Director agent 6.3.3 is installed, are grouped as unlicensed IBM servers. Also, no licensed SCVMM is discovered in SCOM. SCOM actually monitors SCVMM and works ok.

Any ideas how to get those features licensed in evaluation mode? Or are there other methods to do bare metal deployments with SCVMM?
