Pinned topic HS23 with Emulex LPe1205-CIOv has problem when set Port speed to 8GB

‏2013-08-13T08:00:18Z |

I have HS23 with Emulex LPe1205-CIOv, when i set HBA Port speed to 8GB, the IO is unstable, when i copy around 1TB (5000 files) from SAN disk to SAN disk, some time it lose any IO operation and get back after a while. But when i set Port speed to 4GB, then everything works well, anybody can offer some help? Thanks in advance.

In the link provided by gez above, IBM recommends the speed setting to be set to "auto" as in auto negotiate. If your FC architecture is 8Gb end to end, meaning all devices from the HBA in the HS23 to the SAN array at the core (SFPs, Chassis I/O Modules, TOR switches, Directors, etc)  are 8Gb you should see 8Gb speeds. If any of these upstream devices are not 8Gb, and it sounds as though at least one device in the chain is not, you'll experience issues when hard coding the HBA to 8Gb.

Thanks sturner, i tried auto, fix 8G, fix 4g, only fix 4g work fine, auto can be auto set to 8G, but it is very unstable, the same to fix 8G. All my hardware support 8G link, include HS23+HBA, chassis+SAN switch, and storwize v7000, Any idea?
