On a server with a Serveraid MR10i controller is get the following messages :

Controller ID: 0 SAS topology error : Device not addressable

I can't find any additional information.

So What does the message mean ? and what should i do ?

And do i have to take action ?

    Alexander,

Thanks for the response.  To view or collect DSA log i probably need to install some software ?  If i look at the ibm website i can download some software but its for Blade servers ?  Can i install it on my "simple" server ?

Update:  currently running DSA, i will post the results when finished.

Update2 : Output of the log file uploaded in the attach files.

    Regrads,

Went onsite to the server, and further checked the problem.

The situation for the moment is as follows :

On a COLD boot (so powwef off the server en start it again) => the server boots into  Windows.

On a WARM restart (restart from windows) => the same error gets displayed "Number of devices exeeded the maximum limit of devices per quad. Please remove the extra drives and reboot the system to avoid losing data. System has halted due to unsupported configuration"

Can you help me in further solving this issue ?

    Thanks,

    Hi Jo,

    Happy New Year!

This error indicates that a problem or condition was detected with one of the xSeries hard disk drives.

How many disks inside? 3 or 4 ? In logs we saw HDD in slot 5, but no any data about this disk. What is the disk in slot 5?

       Event Description: Inserted: PD 05(e0xff/s5)
       Slot Number: 5

    Hi Alexander,

There are 4 disks in the server, and they are at slot 0 to 3.  Nothing is in slot 5 ???

Note. When I look in the "Megaraid storage manager" I only see disks in slot 0, 1 and 2

    Update.

Today i went onsite to the client, to replace the harddisk in slot 3, HD4.  Powered down the server and rebooted the server.  No errors on startup and on working with the clients.  So i thinks the problem is solved.

I would like to thank you for your time and effort you have put in this case, and helping me solving this issue.

    So many thanks again,

    Regards,

    Jo
