Pinned topic SVC zoning and Vmware ESX

‏2013-05-04T16:08:07Z |

Hi,

Can you please tell me how you "zone" Vmware ESX servers with SVC IO Group ? Do you zone each ESX with each IO Group of the SVC cluster ?

We zone ESX servers to only one IO Group (max paths recommended to a disk is 4) but it means that you have to connect all ESX servers to the same IO Group to be able to use Vmotion,SVMotion or Vmware/HA) !

It also means that you will have an imbalance SVC cluster, more load on IO Group where ESX are connected, less load on other SVC IO Group.

Thanks.

Regards,

All the installations I've done, I've zoned all IO groups to all ESX hosts. ESX dont mind having 8 paths to a datastore.

That being said, I've never touched a SVC or Storwize cluster with more than 4 nodes / 2 IO groups.
