Pinned topic Deploy EGL Web and REST based applications to the Liberty Profile in CICS Transaction Server V5.1

‏2014-05-13T06:35:52Z |

I'm so excited to know the RBD 9.1 will include Liberty profile in CICS TS 5.1 as new EGL Web / REST application deployment platform.

Does the EGL Web means the Web 2.0/Mobile  application only ?  JSF will not be supported ?

Is there any limitation in RBD 9.1 when deploying to Liberty Profile  in CICS TS 5.1 instead of  distributed WAS  8.5.5. ?

    L.H.

Sorry for the delay in answering this one.

The answer is we will support RUI type apps, JSF apps, and VG Web Transaction type applications. The main restriction I am aware of for the CICS liberty support is that SOAP based services are not supported as the Liberty profile shipped with CICS does not support them.

To use JSF, the following items are necessary:

    1. add the feature jsf-2.0 to their CICS Liberty server.xml file

    <feature>jsf-2.0</feature>

    2. Remove the project facets "Websphere Application Extended and Co-Existence' (they are not compatible with Websphere Liberty in general). This is done though Project->Properties->Project Facets

Let us know if there are questions.
