Pinned topic RMC how to work as a team

‏2019-03-18T06:25:08Z | rmc

Hi

Can we as team work separately on multiple RMC instance and later merge all the work together and publish. How do we acheive this? Please suggest.

Thanks

Don

    Thanks Bruce.

If I don't have the option of using a source control and the team is working independently, is there a way tocombine or merge the work and publish as a single file.

    Please suggest.

    Thanks

    Don

    Hi Don,

The basic strategies to avoid problems are:

    1. For relationships, brief descriptions, and names of elements - break up the work into different plug-ins, one person per plug-in - then one person does a periodic or final end merge back to one or a fewer set of final  plugins.

    2. For rich text attributes, assign one person per element for any given time.

Using a version control system just makes this easier.  But a gentleman's agreement can work too.

Just make frequent backups in case something breaks.

    Best of luck!

Thanks Bruce for the detailed explanation.

If we work by one plugin per person on individual system, what are the steps to follow for merge. Is there any document explaining the merge process. I have tried the export and import option.. Please suggest.

    Thanks,

    Don

    Hi Don,

You can right click on a package or individual element and select "move" to move it to a different plugin.  This can be used to split or merge.

There are issues with graphics files not being moved - but you can always go into  the element and re-attach the graphic, or manually copy the graphic files over to the other plug-in.
