Pinned topic V7000: Hot spare coverage.

‏2014-04-02T14:02:52Z |

Hi All,

In Storwize V7000 storage, I have 1 hot spare in chain1 and no hot spare in chain2. In this case if one disk from chain2 fails then will it use hot spare from chain1...???

Thanks.

Mangesh Shirke.

The IBM Redbook explains a bit about hotspares and chains in chapter 7.1.2.

Basicly, the V7000 have 2 SAS chains. Chain 1 is connected to SAS port 1, Chain 2 is connected to SAS port 2 and the controller enclosure.

Hot spares a global within a SAS chain.
