Pinned topic Configuring DR for Connect:Direct Windows in an MS Failover cluster. What is the best way to maintain registry consistency?

‏2013-05-06T13:21:56Z |

I am writing up DR processes for a C:D cluster in MS Failover Cluster and it seems to me the Production registry hive would have to be backed up and imported into the DR site in order to maintan configuration consistency.  Is there a better was to approach this/

Cheers, and thanks

With C:D Windows 4.6.0.3 you can use CdConfig.exe to export and import all your configuration settings including initparms, netmap, proxies, users and groups. The settings are exported to plain text files, which can also be used during a (re-)installation.

    Export:

    CdConfig.exe /Q /PInitparms.cfg
    CdConfig.exe /Q /MMap.cfg
    CdConfig.exe /Q /UUser.cfg

    Import (for all types):

    CdConfig.exe /Q /I /FFile.cfg /LCdConfig.log

When doing DR or Failover Clustering, you may want to disable Strong Password Enryption (SPE) to prevent invalid password issues in case file system and registry replication get out of sync.
