Pinned topic How to speed up the preprocess in CPLEX IDE?

‏2013-04-15T18:29:09Z |

Hi,

I am using the Cplex IDE 12.5 to code a MIP problem. For the 16 jobs' problem, the software need 10 seconds to preprocess the problem, and then I can see the engine log. When I increase the job size to 32, the software need around 80 seconds to preprocess the problem.

I am running a 400 jobs problem now. It is 69 hours now and haven't finished the preprocess.

Is there any way to speed up the preprocess? Also can I observe the log and see what happened during the preprocess?

Thanks.

Does the profiler give any hints as to where all the time is spent?

Maybe the problem is that you are using dense constraints/data and do not exploit sparsity? You may want to check this chapter in the user manual to learn how to exploit sparsity.

      Thanks for your help. Daniel.

I am reading the chapter now and try to build a better model.
