Pinned topic Failed to create Java Virtual Machine

‏2014-02-28T08:20:54Z |

Somehow, I have corrupted my development environment.  Whenever, I attempt to start Installation Manager, I get the error "Failed to create the Java Virtual Machine".

Is there a way to fix this without having to reinstall Windows?  I am running Windows 7 Professional.

I would certainly appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance!

William

This is the part that I am having a problem with:

"With this change, you can update eclipse.ini manually after the install/update to update -Xmx option to workaround the memory issue."

I am not sure what value to use for the -Xmx option.  Would that be the launcher.ini or the IBMIM.ini or both?

    Thanks,

    William

    Hi William,

Could you try either using 512m or 1024m for -Xmx and verify the behavior.

    For e.g. Xmx1024m

    Kiran

I don't seem to have write permissions or the file is otherwise locked.

I don't seem to have permissions to write to either of the 'ini' files.

    Hi,

Could you try the following. Save the ini file outside the SDP folder. Then try to copy and replace in the sdp folder.

    Kiran
