Pinned topic x3650 7979AC1 CPU Support

‏2013-06-02T01:21:41Z |

Hi,

Based from what the documentation for this server, it says that it does support e5450 quadcore xeon processors. I do have the latest BIOS 1.1.9 installed but when I try to boot the machine with these CPUs, it doesn't post. I've zeroed the BIOS with no luck.

Did I miss something or am I miss informed.

Thanks,

David

    Dear David,

check FRU of your system board and compare with doc info:

      Hi guys,

My issue here was that I have FRU 43W8250 that only supports 5000-5100-5300. I have a 5400 series xeon.

My solution is to swap out the main board for a FRU 44E5081. This one supports all 5xxx series xeon. They are cheap now days.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

      David

From what I found last night, the X3650 needs a later system board FRU to support the 5400 series Xeon processors. The board I have is FRU 43W8250, and the board needed is 44E5081.
