‏2014-06-18T19:38:26Z |

I want to install a Linux flavor on an IBM IntelliStation Power 285 Workstation. I have the instalation CD, burned from .ISO file. What should I do in order to get a CD (DVD) -drive boot of the machine?

Hmm.    That's a pretty old system.     Based on Power5+ processors.

We'll poke around a bit.  Which Linux are you playing with?    you may need to get creative with the kernel and the pieces..

I have been directed to use one of the following distros: http://distrowatch.com/search.php?architecture=powerpc#distrosearch

The main problem I see is to get the machine to boot from the install CD/DVD, I have installed Linux before from CDs/DVDs.

    Any reccomandation is welcome.
