Pinned topic encrypt and decrypt data in jdbc connections

‏2013-04-18T07:20:02Z |

Hello
We have an application that encrypts data and save encrypted data into database, I have seen that WebSphere can encrypt and decrypt web service messages,  does it can do this for jdbc connections?
It means can we define keys and algorithms and websphere encrypt data before sending them to data source? and decrypt them
when reading from data source?
Thanks

Hi, the encryption in web services is based on the web services standard.  DB connections can be encrypted, but it depends on the vendor you are using and how they have implemented their encryption.  For example, DB2 has a custom property in the DataSource that allows 56 or 256 bit encryption. This also must be set on the DB2 DB side.
