Pinned topic Datapower XI 50 abrupt restart

‏2013-08-16T15:14:43Z |

We are facing an issue where in data power box is getting rebooted all of sudden. The down time for that box is few seconds (10-12) and then it gets restarted automatically.

The current version of box is XI50.4.0.2.5

We suspect this issue could be of out of memory issue but we are not able to see any relative error codes in the log.

Any help is highly appreciated!!

Regards,
VRS

Any reload of the appliance will produce in the temporary directory of the default domain a file named backtrace.  You should open a PMR and provide this information.  Are you doing any real time monitoring of the appliance at the time of the reload?  If memory is the issue, you would see an increase in memory utilization over time.  Also 4.0.2.5 is somewhat dated so there could be some memory related fixed that would be helpful assuming memory was your issue.  How often is this happening?  There are must gather shell scripts available where you could periodically SSH to this appliance, login and do some show commands, and the results would be saved to a timestamped file, so if you don't have an existing tool, you could get a picture of different metrics on the appliance over time.

      Hi,

Does this happen when some one executes some transactions on the box. This might be because of the stack overflow. Please check the backtrace.sent file as it will show the file name that has caused the overflow if any. This might be an issue with your XSLT.

Let me know what you get in backtrace file.

Always hard to say here.  I have had some backtrace files that referenced a specific xslt or wsdl, but generally, these files don't have any reference and need to be decoded by IBM support.  When you open the PMR and send in the backtrace, as well as a description of what the appliance was doing at the time of the failure (under heavy load, perhaps light load but a specific request, etc), that should get the problem diagnosis started.  Support may also ask you for an export of your configuration to analyze.
