Re: IBMDA400 OLE DB, Maximum string/column size?

Hope that I am in the right forum. We use IBM i Access for windows OLE DB provide IBMDA400 to read data from the iSeries and insert it into SQL. We have SQL Linked Server that we use. There are some new, really large columns (900+ bytes) on the iSeries that is giving some of us fits, but for others it works fine. Thouht at first it would be the IBM i Access version, but have not nailed that down. Does anyone know any column/string limits for any of the versions if IBMDA400. How can I tell the version of the SQL Provider IBMDA400?

Sorry, forgot to mention that for those of use where the large columns are not working, we use a SELECT * from OPENQUERY(LINKED_SERVER, 'SELECT * FROM TABLE1') and it just runs and runs, even though there are only 5 records. Sometimes it will fail after 20 or so minutes. Sometimes you have to cancel the SPID.

    Error, if one is returned.
    Msg 73909, Level 16, State 1, Line1
The OLD DB provider "IBMDA400" for lined server "Store1" reported an error. Provider caused a server fault in an external process.

Maximum size of a fixed-length column in DB2 is 32k, so I can't imagine a 900-1000 byte column causing issues.  I'd load the latest IBM i Access for Windows service pack and if that doesn't fix the issue, then contact IBM Support.
