Pinned topic Hostname resolution

‏2013-05-13T02:58:52Z |

Before and after installing I ran the dependency_checker.sh and there are no errors in my system.After installation, when I was trying to configure SSH environment using both firststeps and command line it is not working.When using command line I didn't get any error but while using firststeps I am getting the following error:

When creating the streaminstance using the command

$streamtool mkinstance -i stream1

I am getting following error:

CDISC0040I The system is creating the stream1@bijay instance.

CDISC5197E The following host specification is not valid because the rover-1-2.rovernet.mtu.edu host resolves to  aloopback address: rover-1-2.rovernet.mtu.edu --tags execution, build.

And this is not the loopback address.This is address provided by my network and when I ping to this address, I get reply also.

My system configuration is:

CENTOS 6.4

Inpfosphere Stream 3.0

Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Hi -

    The messages you posted idicate two machine names and a problem with the definition of the loopback port.  Check in /etc/hosts for the following definitions and correct them if needed, consult with your system admin if you are not familiar with impementing changes in the hosts file.  Besure there are no dupicate entries/names in the file:

      1) the loopback port (see below for example of a valid entry)

       127.0.0.1   localhost localhost.localdomain

      2) the entry for rover-1-2.rovernet.mtu.edu and rover-1-2

       <IP4 address>       rover-1-2.rovernet.mtu.edu    rover-1-2

    If these look OK try pinging each then performing SSH to rover-1-2.rovernet.mtu.edu then rover-1-2.   Post any errors here.

    I am still getiing the same problem:

    My /etc/hostfile lokks like this:

    127.0.0.1      localhost localhost.localdomain localhost4 localhost4.localdomain4

    ::1                   bijayvaio_rover rover-1-2.rovernet.mtu.edu localhost6 localhost6.localdomain6

    122.168.1.2 bijayvaio_rover  rover-1-2.rovernet.mtu.edu

    The  programs runs correctly and without error in my lab network.The error only occurs when I am running the program in the home.

    Yep - the duplicate entries in the IPV6 localhost address line (::1)  is most likely the problem

    ::1 bijayvaio_rover rover-1-2.rovernet.mtu.edu localhost6 localhost6.localdomain6

    Remove the hostnames (bijayvaio_rover rover-1-2.rovernet.mtu.edu) from the above line and see if the problem is resolved.  You may have to re-establish the SSH keys.
