Pinned topic WebSphere and CDI

‏2014-02-06T14:34:44Z |

We are currently developing a CDI based framework using WebSphere 8.5.5.1 which we understand is based upon OWB, OpenWebBeans, 1.1.6.
We can also see in the OWB Release Features and OWB Release Notes that OWB 1.2.0 was a major update when it comes to code and architectural changes as well as the number of bugs fixed.

There is a WebSphere 8.5.5.2 scheduled for 7th of april. Will this version contain any changes to OWB, perhaps OWB 1.2.0?

Thanks,

Lars

In general we do not ship wholesale open source updates in the service stream, so I would not expect an update to a new release of OWB in 8.5.5.x.  If you have specific problems, please open a PMR so we can resolve those!

We have concerns regarding numerous of the OWB-bugs and their fixes. The list below are only a sample of our concerns

    OWB-866 - xbean asm4 shade
OWB-781 - Remove all Javassist and Scannotation related parts from OWB
    OWB-779 - ScannerService using xbean
    OWB-714 <= PMR already submitted
OWB-665 - invocation order of @PostConstruct interceptor <= Also OWB bundled with e.g. TomEE lets us catch exceptions thrown in @PostConstruct, WAS 8.5.5.1 not. <= We are in the process of open a PMR on this.
OWB-344 - implement Decorators and Interceptors as subclassing

We are of course most interested in OWB-issues related to memory leaks/problems, performance and lifecycle issues!

Is there a list of which OWB-bugs that has been fixed in the version of OWB running in WAS 8.5.5.1?

    Thanks,

    Lars

Several of these do not even apply to the CDI implementation shipped with Liberty or Full Profile WebSphere.  Please open a PMR if you have specific problems and we will address those.

There is a list of APARs included in each service pack, but unfortunately I'm not aware of an easy way to filter those to CDI issues.
