Pinned topic Report Studio: Text orientation set to vertical in PDF output

Report Studio 10.2

I need to produce a report where the list column titles are written vertically and not horizontally. The output needs to be in PDF format. I have tried to set the "Direction & Justification -> Writing Mode" property to "Top to bottom, right to left" but this works only in XLS and not in PDF format.

Does someone have an answer to this? I have been unable to find a solution by searching Cognos related forums.

Thanks.

It is my knowledge from 8.4 that text flow properties are good for HTML but do not hold for PDF docs. i went thru help document in 10.2.1 and could not find it anywhere mentioned specifically but i dont see it either working with the sample that i worked on now.

We also have the same issue here in 10.2.  I've asked if this is fixed in 10.2.1 FP2, will update this post when I get a reply...

Work around I have found to show text vertically in PDF output:

    Within Crosstab Node Member

Font and Text - Horizontal Alignment set to center

Font and Text - Spacing and Breaking define letter spacing to .5 px and allow Break words when necessary

Positioning - Size & Overflow define width to 1px

Results in a field value such as Project being shown as

    P

    r

    o

    j

    e

    c

    t

    On my PDF report.

    Hope this helps.
