Pinned topic X336 Memory Upgrade Problem

‏2013-08-27T11:19:19Z |

Hello,

I own 3 IBM X336 servers.
I've recently bought a memory slots (8*2GB) to go up to 16GB total (server maximum).

When I tried to install it the server eventually accepts only 8GB of memory (only when slots 1-4 are used).
I have some extra memory cards like that, which are compliant with this server (by IBM) so it isn't a problem with the memory itself.

In addition. the second server behaves the same way (only accepts 8GB from the new memory cards and not more, even when I have 4 empty slots to fill) - so that tells me its ptobably a setting\configuration problem. The BIOS Memory Configuration is set to flat on both servers. The servers just beeps multiple times and nothing else happens,,

Does anyone know what is the problem and how can I make the server to recognize and accept all memory slots?

Thanks!

    Hi  Shay,

as you can see on the next page this memory module is not supported for server x336:

Memory accessories - IBM eServer xSeries 336
       https://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/myportal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-56197

Use any supported DIMMs from this list.
