Pinned topic Dont understand what is "**"

‏2016-12-17T15:09:30Z |

Dear All

Can you please explain to me the "**" in the below commands...looks like a generic thing...why "**" and not only "*" ?

./setmqaut -m QMGR1 -n 'CRM.**' -t queue -p user1 +browse +get +inq +put +dsp
./setmqaut -m QMGR1 -n '**' -t queue -p user1 +dsp

SET AUTHREC PROFILE('**') PRINCIPAL('user1') OBJTYPE(QUEUE) AUTHADD(BROWSE,DSP)
SET AUTHREC PROFILE('**') PRINCIPAL('user1') OBJTYPE(CHANNEL) AUTHADD(DSP)
SET AUTHREC PROFILE('**') PRINCIPAL('user1') OBJTYPE(LISTENER) AUTHADD(DSP)

Many thanks

Dina

The manual says that a single * stands for any character between the dot ('.') delimiters of the object name.

A double star ** will ignore the dot delimiter and stand for any char (including the dot delimiter) of the object name.

A quick test would have shown that...
