Pinned topic cognos database permission

‏2014-01-29T00:40:02Z |

hi, i'm not familar with cognos but the developer ask me to create schema for the cognos server. what is the minimum permission that the BI needs to access the cognos tables? I have given these permision, but now he is complaining that he cannot see any links to the "administration" and "reporting". Once I give dba role to the user schema, he say he has no problem, I do not want to give dba role, any suggestion? I look this up and it was a minimum permission so I don't see the problem.

Is this for the Content Store database? What RDBMS are you using? What version of Cognos?

There is some information about the permission requirements on these links, have you seen these?

note this one says "all permissions must be granted directly to the user account rather than to a role"

yes, I saw the permissions already, I set it and it was able to connect, also I turn on auditing and it was creating and dropping tables. I don't think its database related since the administration link part should be handle on the web end but i'm not sure.

    any other suggestions?

A post near the bottom of this page describes an additional schema that needed permissions: http://businessintelligence.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/cognos-admin-l/cognos-administration-missing-from-launch-4584683

Assuming the developer is a member of the System Administrators group in Cognos, I'm not sure what else you can look at. Open a ticket with Cognos support
