Is IBM MPI C and Fortran compiler available on P8 env ? Such XLF/XLC ?

From the basic instruction, it seems there is only gcc available.

Thanks!

    XLC / C++ V13.1 for Linux supports POWER8:

XL Fortran V15.1 for Linux supports POWER8:

    Does this help?

Qiang, several subtleties in your question.

As Glen points out, the IBM XL compilers are fully supported, fully optimized, and readily available for Power Linux.     IBM XL, as with GCC, is optimized for POWER8.

The tricky part is MPI, which generally in the Linux space implies a team is downloading and using one of numerous versions of MPI across the communities.        For example, open MPI is up to Version 1.8.1.   Open MPI is typically not directly supported by the IBM teams, at least the product teams that I'm aware of.

A few more details and use case would be most excellent!

Thanks! That's helpful. I have downloaded them from XL.

When P8 env is ready, could I install those compiler on P8?

Or P8 admin will help to install the compiler ?

    Hi Bill,

I would like to compile and run WRF 3.5.1 on P8 system.  Besides the compiler, I would also like to have IBM PE installed on P8.

    Any suggestion/comments? Thanks!

Qiang, which Linux distro are you using on POWER8 ?

Have you already got WRF 3.5.1 compiled and running on another operating system / system?     What's your base for WRF ?

    I'll check on IBM PE.

Hi Bill, The Linux is RHEL 6.5  64bit.

I need to compile the WRF 3.5.1 on P8. So that's why I need xlf and xlc installed on P8.

I will also install some dependent packages for WRF, such as netcdf. zlib

They will also be compiled from souce code and installed.

Once they are completed successfully, I will pubish a papre to share the experience.

    Thanks!

    Hi  Bill,

Qiang, contact me directly (wmb at us.ibm.com).  I suspect you need access to systems which we don't know about here in development.
