I am referring to IBM Installation Toolkit for PowerLinux documentation (ninth edition July 2003) to use it in live mode (boot from DVD) on PowerLinux server. There are no specific instructions on how to access the console from HMC to configure the boot method to be used by the PowerLinux server. Are there specific steps on how to access terminal console from HMC to configure boot method?

This Redbook discusses how to get a logical partition console from the HMC: http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg247491.html
(see section "5.3.1 Remote AIX, Linux, and Virtual I/O Server Terminal")
This document describes how to configure the boot method: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg3T1011805

You can open a terminal window on your browser or through ssh (recommended for IBMIT).
ssh: connect to HMC using ssh and run vtmenu command to choose the system and respective partition (LPAR) to open a console for.
browser: On HMC web interface, select only the partition (LPAR) you are interested. Then, in the menu at the bottom, expand "Console Window" option and click on "Open Terminal Window".
For detailed information about HMC usage, consider downloading this IBM redbook: http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg247491.html?Open
