Pinned topic Cannot connect to ANY I/O modules

‏2013-11-21T03:21:42Z |

Today I installed a Cisco 4GB FC switch to replace the 2GB switch which is currently installed in Bay 3.

Since I never really had to get into configuring any I/O modules, I never really noticed that none are accessible via IP.

Everything is configured to be enabled and I've assigned IP's to the modules but this never works. I am missing something.

Happy to provide what ever info is needed to figure this out because I've spent the day banging my head against the wall.

BladeCenter 8677
Cisco Switch 39Y9281

Switch IP's are in same network as the management IP.

The AMM will proxy arp the addresses you assign (using the AMM web interface) to the I/O modules. The addresses should be in the same subnet and have the same gateway as the AMM.

Yes, I mentioned that the IP's are all on the same management network. Are you saying I'm missing something?

Can you ping the switch from the AMM or another host on the same subnet? From the gateway? From a host outside the subnet?

No, I cannot ping any switch from anywhere external or internal to the BladeCenter.

Ok, I don't know what happened but from between the time I posted this to when I looked again just now, the switch is now available to me.

I don't get it, why would it take hours to become available after post?
