Pinned topic poll: do you use WTX plugin or standalone?

‏2013-06-18T08:55:20Z |

Please be so kind to participate in my poll: how do you use WTX? As a plugin (e.g. for WMB) or standalone (launcher, command server)?

Let me start:

[   ] plugin

[ X ] standalone

Thank you very much!

Thank you very much. The result is clear - though we have to consider, that WMB users are likely using other forums than this one. Anyway, I did not expect to see so many users still using the command server and/or launcher.

I'd expect most to be using the command server and launcher.  The launcher is part of what made the tool so attractive in the first place and the command server is what non-webshpere using enterprises would need to run maps, right?

In the days when IBM acquisitioned Ascential, we've been told, that command server and launcher are inofficially discontinued. They will still be supported as long as customers use them, but development is ceased. IBM's plan is to pick the WTX engine and implement it as a plugin for several other IBM products like WMB.

Meanwhile WTX is available as a plugin for 7 or even 9 IBM products. And some of the customers in Germany followed IBM's strategy and implemented WMB with WTX as a plugin, thus not using launcher or command server anymore.

Figured that would come eventually.  Was told by IBM and previous vender one of the reasons IBM bought the tool was for the launcher/command server.  Toooo bad.

Who ever provide you the information is factually incorrect.
