Pinned topic SQL4499N Problem

‏2015-09-28T13:26:29Z | data studio

Hello,

I downloaded Data Studio and connected to DB2 Express-C in my Linux Mint 64-bit laptop. It was working fine. I was studying DB2 and trying to create a new instance and drop the old instance. I was able to drop the old instance but without dropping the sample database first.

Now I cannot connect to sample database in new instance in data studio.

It's showing SQL4499N  A fatal error occurred that resulted in a disconnect from the data source.

I tried for the solutions mentioned here but could not fix the problem.

Please help.

Thanks.

By dropping the instance you lost the catalog information that told the instance where the sample database exists (among other details about it).  The new instance will not automatically "figure it out" for you, it has to be told about the database.  You need to re-catalog the database in the new instance.  Have you done this?

Yes, I re-cataloged the database in new instance.

    Thanks.

I don't understand what fixed the problem. Here is what I did.

    1. Uninstalled data studio.
    2. $db2stop
    3. $db2start
    4. $db2 drop db sample
    5. $grep db2c /etc/services -- Picked the right service name and port number.
    6. $db2 update database manager configuration using svcename db2c_jaydipc
    7. $db2set DB2COMM=tcpip
    8. $db2 terminate
    9. $db2stop
    10. $db2start
    11. $db2sampl
    12. Install data studio
    13. Restart
    14. $db2start
    15. Configure the connection in data studio and NO ERROR.

My only problem right now is I need to start db2start at login.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions.

    Thanks.

Faced same Errorcode and when I checked db2diag.log (C:\ProgramData\IBM\DB2\DB2COPY1\DB2\DIAG0000) there was error "FUNCTION: DB2 UDB, common communication, sqlcctcpconnmgr, probe:47
MESSAGE : DIA3202C The TCP/IP call "bind" returned an errno="10013"."

Finally I changed the port number in following file for db2service: %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\services

Changed the port from 50000 to other free port eg: 51000

then did db2stop and db2start and it worked...

    hope it helps
