Initially when I created an instance I used db2sampl to create mysample database then using data studio I created the MYTEST database. Then I drop the mysample database and keep MYTEST for my use.

While trying to ping the MYTEST, it is throwing me the errors.

I tried -

C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\BIN>db2set -all
[e] DB2PATH=C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB
[i] DB2INSTPROF=C:\ProgramData\IBM\DB2\DB2COPY1
[g] DB2_EXTSECURITY=NO
[g] DB2_COMMON_APP_DATA_PATH=C:\ProgramData
[g] DB2SYSTEM=BARKA11-2K8R2-PS
[g] DB2PATH=C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB
[g] DB2ADMINSERVER=DB2DAS00

C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\BIN>db2 get dbm config - Intially TCP/IP service name was empy for me

Then I run -

C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\BIN>db2stop
SQL1064N  DB2STOP processing was successful.

C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\BIN>db2set
DB2INSTPROF=C:\ProgramData\IBM\DB2\DB2COPY1

C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\BIN>db2 update dbm cfg using SVCENAME 50000
DB20000I  The UPDATE DATABASE MANAGER CONFIGURATION command completed
successfully.

C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB\BIN>db2start
SQL8007W  There are "87" day(s) left in the evaluation period for the product
"DB2 Connect Server". For evaluation license terms and conditions, refer to
the License Agreement document located in the license directory in the
installation path of this product. If you have licensed this product, ensure
the license key is properly registered. You can register the license by using
the db2licm command line utility. The license key can be obtained from your
licensed product CD.
SQL1063N  DB2START processing was successful.

TCP/IP Service name                          (SVCENAME) = 50000

But still unable to ping through Data studio

Attaching the Screenshot for Data studio. let me know if you need anything.

    Hi,Jeet87

From the message you provided, seems you just install the DB2 Connection server other than DB2 server.   you must have the DB2 Server installed and create the DB2 and then you can use Data Studio connect to DB2.

      Hello Jeet87

I would suggest that anybody trying to understand Data Studio down load a document called "Bye Bye Control Center Hello Data Studio" It is a Power Point presentation that explains the Data Studio better than any of the other documents I have read.

A second document is from a presentation at the IDUG Washington, DC Chapter. "IBM Data Studio for Mainframe Developers" by David Simpson of Themis, Inc. Washington was my home IDUG chapter
