Pinned topic x3550 M4 Problem

‏2013-06-04T14:25:59Z |

Dear all,

One of x3550 M4 server which giving the following massage at post

"memory/battery problems were detected

The adapter has recovered but cached data was lost

Press any key to continue, or  'C' to load configuration utility"

and at IBM firmware screen it shows

"[W.3058009] DRIVER HEALTH PROTOCOL: Missing Configuraiton. Requires Change Settings From F1."

We updated the firmware to the latest levels but the massage was still there . We thought that the RAID controller was faulty so we replaced the ServeRAID M5110 SAS/SATA Controller (90y4449)along with the ServeRAID M5100 Series 512MB Cache/RAID 5 Upgrade for IBM System x(81Y4486).

After replacing the controller and upgrade kit we booted the server the and it booted without any errors, We restarted the server once again to make sure that the error was gone but on the restart it again gave the same error, we again updated the RAID firmware but the error was still displaying. We are unable to understand which part is faulty, there is no error LED on LPD panel.

please need your support to resolve the problem

Regards

UA

    Dear Alexander,

With regards to calling local IBM HW support is that, in our region IBM don't directly give support for system x servers, IBM Business Partners give support for system x servers to the customers, and we being the IBM Business Partners are giving support to the customer whose x3550 M4 is giving the problem. After updating the firmware we resolved the following error

"[W.3058009] DRIVER HEALTH PROTOCOL: Missing Configuraiton. Requires Change Settings From F1."

    but the error

    "memory/battery problems were detected

The adapter has recovered but cached data was lost

Press any key to continue, or  'C' to load configuration utility"

is still there after changing the RAID controller. we are clueless about the problem as how to resolve it, we cannot find any document on IBM site for the above problem and the documents which mentioned the problem says to change the battery, but in our case we don't have a battery installed. Waiting our reply and hope for any solution.

    regards

    Usman

Please, reseat the Battery CMOS. The next steps: Remove Power cable, remove Battery and waiting 15 minutes and after insert Battery again. After insert Power cable awaiting until Power LED is flashing as Standby and power-on server.

    Hi,

I am experiencing a similar problem on an IBM x3650m4 (7915). Basically every time I power on, the below error is coming up.

    "memory/battery problems were detected

The adapter has recovered but cached data was lost

Press any key to continue, or  'C' to load configuration utility"

When I press any key, nothing happens, I have to go into the raid controller config utility, exit and then the server continues to boot normally.

The strange thing is that at first I didn't have a BBU installed, so the error didn't make any sense. I had updated the server with the latest firmware using update express but the problem persisted. Then I tried to replace the m5110e controller, but the problem was still  present.

In the meantime I have installed a new BBU but still the same error popped up every time I powered on the server.

As a last resort I tried to replace a planar but yet again the problem was still present.

    Hi,

Can someone advise how this issue was solved?

I have the same problem and tried all the above suggestions but the error message is back and the RAID configuration can't be saved.

The server is x3550 M4 with M5110 RAID controller (w/ 1GB Flash upgrade).

    Thanks in advance,
