Pinned topic Problem with 6.3.3.1 update for IBM Systems Director

‏2013-11-05T09:32:58Z |

Hi all,

i recently have installed a IBM Systems Director 6.3.0. over an aix system ( oslevel 7100-02 )
Now i'm tring to update to latest version.
I've download the package that contains the 6.3.3.1 update for IBM Systems Director.
I'm tring to follow this steps ( reported on the readme ):

 To update IBM Systems Director:
  1) Download the zip file containing the update to the management server.
  2) Run the following command to remove existing updates for IBM Systems Director:

     smcli cleanupd -mFv -P "Platform='Director'"

  3) Run the following command to install the update:

     smcli installneeded -v -F <full path to zip file>

  4) Restart IBM Systems Director.

But when i execute smcli cleanupd -mFv -P "Platform='Director'" i receive this message:

ATKUSC308E A resource representing the local machine could not be found in the database. Ensure the local machine has been discovered and unlocked before executing this command.

Has anyone resolved this yet?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Marco

So the problem isn't with the 6.3.3.1 update, it's with your existing 6.3.x installation.

The problem is clearly stated: "A resource representing the local machine could not be found in the database".
What that means is that for some reason, the IBM Systems Director Server itself is not discovered.

    Try "smcli discover -H <hostname.director.server.com>"

Then see if it discovered via "smcli lssys -l"

If it's there, but Locked, then unlock it via "smcli accesssys -n <SDserver>" and provide the root userid and password.

Only once this is cleared up will you be able to update to 6.3.3.1.

Thank a lot for your reply.

As you suggested i have tried this:

      - smcli discover -H hostname ( hostname is aix-isdmc )

      - via smcli lssys -l checked that the system was discovered but locked

      - tried to unlock via smcli accesssys -n hostname , but with problem

Here the output after the command execution:

      Type the user ID:root
      Type the password:
DNZCLI0727I : Waiting for request access to complete on... aix-isdmc
Result Value: DNZCLI0739E : The access request failed. : aix-isdmc

I'm sure that i've use the correct password.

Have you ever seen this message ?

      Thanks in advance.

      Regards
