Pinned topic WebSphere Application Server v8.5 Developer Tools juno 32 bit

‏2013-10-07T20:33:50Z |

When I try to install WebSphere Application Server v8.5 Developer Tools from Eclipse marketplace for Juno 32-bit installation, I get the below error.

Unable to read repository at http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/websphere/wasdev/updates/wdt/V8.5.5/content.jar.
Read timed out

I also tried downloading the zip - wdt-update-site_8.5.5.WDTU855-I20130528_1529.zip - and using that for installing the tools, but I get a different error about filter not matching something?

So, my question is - How can I obtain WAS 8.5 Developer Tools Plug-in for 32-bit Juno, so that I can use WAS for Developer with it. I have already downloaded and installed the server.

Thank you

I hope the following instructions will help you get the WebSphere Application Server Developers Tool installed to your Eclipse Juno IDE. There is an article in the Information Center with complete instructions on installing the WebSphere Application Server Developer Tools:

    https://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/radhelp/v9/topic/com.ibm.rad.install.doc/topics/t_install_wdt.html

When I install the WebSphere Application Server Developer Tools into Eclipse Juno, I use the Eclipse Marketplace.  I first launch Eclipse Juno.  Next, I click Help and then Eclipse Marketplace...  This brings up an Eclipse Marketplace window.  I click on the Search tab and search on the keyword WebSphere. The WebSphere Development Tools will be in the list. Click the install button and then confirm the features to install.  After a few minutes, the Tools should be installed to your Eclipse Juno IDE.

The other method that I have used is the drag-n-drop links which are provided on the WebSphere Developer Works website for the WebSphere Developer Tools. Use the hyperlink below to get to the Developer Works website. Then, you can either drag-n-drop the Install icons onto your Eclipse Juno IDE toolbar. Or, there is a button to download the WebSphere Developer Tools installer.  As noted on the website, if using the downloadable installer, then you should uninstall any previously installed versions of the WebSphere Developer Tools.

      Thanks for the quick reply.

Eclipse Marketplace was the first thing I tried.  That was giving me the content.jar error

So I went to https://www.ibmdw.net/wasdev/downloads/websphere-application-server-developer-tools-v8-5-5/ and tried to drag the 8.5.5 install button to Eclipse.  But I am not sure where should it be dragged.  I didn't seem to be able to drop it anywhere on eclipse.

So, I tried to download it from https://www.ibmdw.net/wasdev/downloads/websphere-application-server-developer-tools-v8-5-5/   and that was giving me some kind of filter error.

I had initially installed Eclipse 64 bit and it didn't work on it, so I tried on 32 bit.  Do I need to remove the 64 bit directory before trying again?

One other question : How do I uninstall previous version? I have been using RAD so far and since IBM doesn't support RAD issues, if there are other plug-ins installed, I do not normally install plug-ins and do not know how to uninstall them.

      Thanks
