Pinned topic Documentation and learning resource

‏2013-03-15T22:08:01Z |
I've gotten back into PL/I after having only done elementary PL/I programming over 25 years ago, so please go easy on me.  Does anyone have a recommendation for a good resource for (re-)learning PL/I?  At present, the topics I'm most interested in are internal data representation, type conversions, and output formatting.  Thanks in advance for any pointers you can give me.

I always turn to the Programming Guide and Language Reference.  Both are available here.  While they might be a bit dry to read, they always seem to have the answers.

i'm aware that this is an old thread, but anyway:

    • Eberhard Sturm, "The new PL/I" (only available in German OR as Kindle edition), read
    • Robin Vowel, "Introduction into PL/I" (available from the author, consider shipping costs from .AU), not read yet

are my two reading tips, but i'm interested in others too,

Eberhard Sturm's book is available in English too (as well as German).

The full title of my book is "Introduction to PL/I and Structured Programming".
