You need a minimum of 11 drives to create the DDP.

You need a minimum of 10 drives to have the pool working in an optimal state. (the 11th is "hotspare" capacity).

Which Means you can actually run a DDP pool on 8 disks, if you create it with 11 disks, then remove 3 disks, one at a time...

Funny note - if you take the IBM technical exam for the DS3500 or DCS3700 storage products, you get this question, and 11 is not one of the options you can answer!

IBM have very limited information on DDP. If you want to know a bit more about it, I can recommend the Dell documentation for the same storage product, but with an OEM dell logo... http://i.dell.com/sites/doccontent/shared-content/data-sheets/en/Documents/Dynamic_Disk_Pooling_Technical_Report.pdf

Anders this is exactly why I ask because I failed the exam yesterday.

so the correct answer is 8 or 12?

I took the exam 3 weeks ago (and passed) Not sure what I answered, but 8, 10 and 12 are all valid answers to the question if you ask me. The "24" option was the only one I was sure wasnt the right answer.

Basicly the author of the exam needs to fix the question, as its plain wrong.
