Pinned topic SNMPwalk causes BladeCenter Location LED to illuminate

‏2013-04-16T07:09:35Z |

We have 5 Bladecenter chassis.  2 are BCE and 3 are BCH.  All BCH's have AMM's with the latest FW version BPET62Y and the remaining BCE's have AMM FW version BPET62T and BPET63Y.

When I run SNMPwalk from either "The Dude" or from Solarwinds snmpwalk tool, the Location LED on the BCE's and two of three of our BCH's either turn on or show they are on in the AMM GUI (when they are in fact off).  When it comes to the configuration of the BCH's they are identical, which makes me question why the LED illuminates on two of the three.  My question is why the LED and/or the GUI shows the LED on in the first place when SNMPwalk scans the AMM.  An even bigger question is how can SNMPwalk make ANY modifications to the AMM in the first place.  It makes me wonder if there are any other changes beyond turning a LED that I haven't noticed yet.

If anyone else has experienced this problem or can test it on their end, please let me know.  Any input would be appreciated.

Does anyone monitor this forum?  Is there a better place where I should post my question to get some input?

As per development, this problem will be fixed in the  upcoming 2013 Q2 firmware release BPET64B due to GA on May 8, 2013.
