    Hi ,

On the Linux Lpar that i have created i don't use any graphical card , i have just installed the packages ( GNOME)  .

If the graphical card is required can i create a virtual one ?

    thanks for your help

Would a "remote desktop" session like VNC suffice?

    If so, you can:

    1. install "tigervnc-server" package (or other vnc server package of your choice)
    2. run "vncserver" to start the remote desktop session on the system
    3. use a VNC client of your choice on your desktop/laptop to connect to the remote VNC desktop session

I agree. The default remote graphical desktop method is VNC. You dont need a physical or virtual graphical adapter to use it.

Note that Redhat makes it easy to install GNOME using package groups.

yum groupinstall "Gnome Desktop" should do the trick.

also note that the iptables firewall might have to be configured to let VNC through.

VNC uses port 5900+N, where N is the display number. It also uses port 6000+N for the X protocol
