Pinned topic Does IBM know how to replace a disk drive in Power Linux?

‏2014-01-15T19:29:51Z |

I have a failed disk drive.  I pay IBM maintenance.  Why is it so stinking hard to replace a raid protected disk drive?  (hardware reference number

A06RVS7)

I swear it hasn't been that long since I've had to replace a disk drive on another power linux lpar.  iprconfig isn't that different from STRSST which is used by IBM i.

    Hi Rob,

As far as I know, IBM Service doesn't monitor this forum. If you are trying to reach Service - I'm guessing you are since you mentioned paying IBM maintenance - you can call them directly, or sign in to this webpage with your IBM ID: http://www-01.ibm.com/software/support/servicerequest/quick_start.html

I'm already in contact with IBM hardware, hence the post of the hardware service number, A06RVS7.

The disk drive was finally successfully replaced today.  They had to wake someone up in China at 2am his time to find someone who knew enough to get this done.  We're thinking of dumping Linux for AIX.
